GOOD TO KNOW
Questions about Seed Path?
-
Who can apply for Seed Path? We're currently accepting pilot applications from accompanied military-connected households with confirmed orders to Camp Humphreys and an RNLTD of December 6, 2026 or later.
-
Does Seed Path cost anything? No. Seed Path is free for eligible households. Rootline membership is also free.
-
Does the Seed Path replace our military sponsor or the Army sponsorship program? No. The Seed Path is designed to completement, not replace, your unit's official sponsorship and onboarding process. The Army is transitioning the Total Army Sponsorship Program (TASP) into its newer Onboarding and Integration model, but sponsorship and newcomer integration remain command responsibilities. Your gaining unit and assigned sponsor are still your official connection for unit-specific information, reporting requirements, check-in, and other command responsibilities. Your Root Guide serves a different role. They provide an additional local peer connection who can help you navigate everyday questions, find existing resources, and serve as additional boots-on-the-ground support during your PCS.
-
How does the Seed Path work with SFRGs and Command Teams? SFRGs and Command Teams may partner in delivering Seed Path services with incoming families or refer households who could benefit from added peer support. Seed Path supplements, but does not replace, unit sponsorship, SFRG support, or command responsibilities. If you are representing an SFRG or Command Team at USAG Humphreys and would like to work with Rootline, you may contact us at connect@rootlinecommunity.org.
-
When should I apply? You can apply once you have confirmed PCS orders. We encourage you to apply early so our team has time to review your information before your arrival.
-
How long does it take to get matched? Matching depends on your arrival date and the availability of trained Root Guides. Because we're launching a limited pilot, we cannot guarantee a match or a specific timeline.
-
What can my Root Guide help me with? Your Guide can answer everyday questions about life at Humphreys, share personal experience, and help you locate useful resources. Questions requiring official guidance will be referred to the appropriate office.
-
Does Rootline represent ACS, EFMP, or other official organizations? No. Rootline is independent from the military and installation agencies. We may coordinate with and refer families to programs such as ACS, EFMP, CYS, Housing, etc., but we do not speak on their behalf or provide official guidance.
-
What happens if the pilot is full? If all available Root guides are supporting families, eligible applicants may be placed on our waitlist. While you wait, we'll connect you with our general PCSing Korea WhatsApp community and periodically check in about your PCS timeline and continued interest in our Seed Path program.
-
Does Seed Path replace my military sponsor? No. Your assigned military sponsor remains responsible for official sponsorship duties. Seed Path provides additional peer support through local volunteers.
-
How will I communicate with my Root Guide? Most communication will take place through WhatsApp. Once matched, you'll receive information about connecting with your assigned Guide.
-
Can I volunteer as a Root Guide? Yes. We're recruiting volunteers currently living at Camp Humphreys who want to help incoming households. Root Guides receive training and guidance before being assigned to a family.
Help someone who's about to make the move that you made.
Remember what you wish you'd known before arriving in Korea? We're looking for volunteers who can share their experience with incoming households. Rootline provides training and guidance so you understand your role and have support when questions come up.
